I recently had a job that required me to rent a Canon 17mm tilt shift lens. For the non-geeks out there this is a $3000 speciality lens that allows you to shift and tilt your plane of focus to correct distortion or to create landscapes that look like a miniature out of Beetlejuice. Pretty cool stuff. This type of lens is used primarily for architecture shots.
